iPad notepad

I just installed and am playing. Couldnt use because I had to fully charge the pen. Why cant you use the pen if it is connected to the charger? It has to be fully charged!! To use? I like the options of being to use as a todo pad to remember my day. I hate carrying a planner to remember who I talked to today and who I need to remember 6 months from now. Will use the planner for that reason. Thanks apple. Get the pen to be able to use while charging plugged in and Ill be happy.
